Admire
the countryside and the seasonal progress of the crops from the
windows of the Viola, Vauban and Misty gîtes. This photo
was taken in May: the wheat is not yet ripe but will soon change
to a golden yellow. The date of the harvest is decided by mother
nature!.
To
the south of the "Vieille Borde", halfway along the
path to Vézelay, the hills of the Vézelay vineyards
are exposed to the sun. Vézelay, from its eternal hill,
keeps guard over its vineyard covered hills.
A
few minutes away and depending on the season, a walk in the forest
will be the chance to discover the hidden beauties of the undergrowth.Listen
to nature and discover a wealth of natural smells. You'll be amazed
by the colours and surprising shapes of hundreds of mushrooms as
you share the secrets of an unspoiled nature.
This
is a boletus (or "cèpe") and will be delicious
accompanying a Burgundian recipe. There are many different types
of mushrooms and you must never eat any without first checking
that they are edible - always ask the experts first! Some mushrooms
are highly poisonous. Always be sure to check with a specialist
before eating any mushrooms you have picked.
The
ONF (national forestry commission) opens up and maintains tracks
and paths through the forests for controlled forestry and lumbering.
These paths are ideals for walkers and also allow the sunshine
to penetrate into the thick forest.
